Thanks to another generous donation from AMBUCS, HIANN will be giving away six adaptive trikes to HIANN members who want one.

HIANN has had the fortunate opportunity to be introduced to a local non-profit organization that provides custom made recumbent bikes at no cost to individuals that have disabilities. They make each custom recumbent bike in a wide range of sizes all made to meet an individual’s specific needs. The goal is to provide bikes that require a person to use their hand and foot combination to improve coordination, strength, and range of motion and to provide a  wonderful mode of transportation. Please note that this program does not include regular two wheel bikes or two wheel recumbent bikes.

Only five (5) bikes are available, so unfortunately we cannot guarantee that every request can be filled. Survivors with physical disabilities will be given the highest priority .

How can you sign-up for this great chance to get a brand new bike made just for you!!!!!

All HIANN survivors with a disability and all HIANN members in good standing qualify. Please complete the following questions and send your responses to Jeff at jeff@mdcaniel.net or call/text (209) 482-8562 with the answer to the questions below.

You must submit a brief one or two sentence description of your disability in writing or over the phone.

You must have a secure location to store your bike at your home or apartment.

You must have a safe and secure lock for your bike, when not being used at home. An example would be if you go to the grocery store, your bike must be securely locked while you shop. For those that are unable to provide this, HIANN can help.

You must be prepared to travel to Reno on April 14th at 1:00 to meet with an AMBUCS representative to have your bike designed to accommodate your specific needs. All bikes are custom made to these specifications. An appointment will be made for each request for fitting and pickup at a later date in June in Reno.

You must be willing to have your picture taken and used by the sponsoring non-profit companies.

Requests will be taken on a first come first serve basis and again we what to remind you that there is a chance that some requests may not be fulfilled. For those of you that have already sent a request to Jeff or signed-up in the past, simply complete the questions listed above.
